About the Author
Michael G. LaFosse has been an origami artist for decades, and is considered a leading authority and master of the art. An avid teacher, LaFosse co-founded the Origamido Studio, a learning center and design studio dedicated to the art of origami, and the only place in the world specializing in hand papermaking for the origami artist. Origamido also produces folded art and commercial designs for a variety of international clients. LaFosse co-curated Origami Now!, a wildly popular, year-long exhibition at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. Vanessa Gould prominently featured LaFosse in the Peabody Award-winning film, Between the Folds.

Richard L. Alexander co-founded the Origamido Studio with Michael G. LaFosse in 1996. He has been the chief papermaker, holding workshops since 2003, and is a frequent collaborator with other famous paper artists. He holds a degree from Cornell University in biology (systems ecology), where he also studied landscape architecture and design. He has consulted with apparel, container, toy and consumer product designers to incorporate folding theory into familiar daily use objects. Together, Alexander and LaFosse have created dozens of origami exhibitions, and over 75 books, kits and videos about paper and paper arts.

Sstarted reading the book as soon as I got it but my reading time is limited. So far it has given me some interesting information about paper. I love the book so I got the eBook. I haven't looked at the DVD as yet. I have several of LaFosse kits with DVDs that I have used. His instructions were great and easy to follow. I expect no less from this one. I wouldn't buy the eBook if I wanted the DVD as the video timed out the 6+ times I tried to download it. I use the eBook to refresh my memory of the folds.

Love these books

This is an awesome series, I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good story. Though the books themselves seem to be written for a younger audience, the story doesn't suffer from lack of depth nor does it want for detail or complexity. My only complaint with this series as a whole is the ending, it feels as if it should have a continuation after the last book, maybe even another trilogy. Even so, it is definitely a must read.

This is the third collection of syndicated newspaper columns written by Pultizer Prize-winning Goodman, following At Large ( LJ 10/15/85) and Keeping in Touch ( LJ 9/1/81). Perhaps Goodman's musings on the workplace, relationships, and the current events of 1984 to 1989 are a welcome relief after reading the hard news section of the newspaper, but collected here, the columns often seem banal, lacking the satiric bite of a Russell Baker or the poetic writing style of an Anna Quindlen. Goodman maintains a fairly conservative point of view, but her columns are best when she strays from it, such as when she provides a perceptive defense of Jessica Hahn. Recommended for libraries that have Goodman's other books or an extensive journalism collection.

good snack reading

This is a collection of columns by a Pulitzer-Prize-winning Boston Globe writer, published in 1989. Some of the material is dated, especially the columns devoted to public figures (Oliver North, Jessica Hahn, Cory Aquino, Fawn Hall) and news (Baby M, AIDS, yuppies...). That doesn't mean the columns aren't interesting, though. If you lived through it you might enjoy the reading it now, through your current persepctive. If you didn't, hey, you might learn something. And there are plenty of columns about timeless things -- generation gaps, college kids, relationships.... She's a pretty good writer.

This book will give you a unbelievable perspective on the Love of Jesus and His nature. After reading this book, I knew more of His love for me and I loved Him more. I will read over and over. Couldn't recommend this book more.

A greater perspective.

I'll read this again and again, for there is so much food for thought. I have a whole new appreciation for John the Baptist and a greater understanding of who he was. This book explains why Jesus spent 40 days in the desert in a whole new way that gave me the a better understanding of what was taking place. Rick Joyner's books always bring me closer to Jesus, he becomes alive to me. It's a short story and a great story that makes the gospel message come alive.
