Very good read but absolutely the worst editing and proofreading I have EVER seen. Too bad as doing this electronically should be easy. In some cases the characters name was wrong, many punctuation errors and omissions, incomplete sentences, you name it, it was there. Too bad.

I read the first in the series because I got it free. Since I enjoy books in series, I am reading the others to see what happens with Cindy and Mattheus, but only because they are fairly inexpensive downloads. The storyline is just ok and the editing (or lack thereof) makes me cringe at times. For example, in this book, one of the characters was first named Ables, then Noles, then back to Ables. Maybe it's the former school teacher in me, but it is bothersome.

The plot of the book was very good and I enjoyed it. But, it was hard to read. Words were but together like this= sheliked ........... But other than that it was a really good series.

Over time, there has been dramatic improvement in CF patient life expectancy, in large part related to earlier diagnosis (newborn screening), better understanding of molecular genetics and underlying pathophysiology, the integrated and highly specialized Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Accredited Care Centers, and development of a wide range of new treatments and therapies, some of which target the basic CFTR defect. Allan Beever is a Professor of Law at the University of South Australia. He has previously taught or held visiting positions at the Universities of Ottawa, Southampton, Durham, the Max-Planck-Institut fur auslandisches und internationales Privatrecht, Hamburg, and the University of Auckland. His research focuses on the theory of tort law and the law of obligations more widely, on political and legal theory, and on the history of philosophy.

Excellent job

This is a very rigorous and detailed account of a very esoteric subject that historically began with the concept of analytic continuation in complex analysis. The author begins with the concept of a presheaf which he defines categorically and then gives a few examples. My preference would be for the author to motivate the subject from a historical perspective, give several concrete examples of presheaves, along with an indepth discussion of why presheaves were invented, and then move on to the abstract definitions. It would be very helpful to the newcomer to sheaf theory if the author could explain why the functor from open sets to abelian groups is a contravariant functor, instead of a covariant one.
Sheaves are defined next, along with several examples of sheaves that illustrate the sometimes non-Hausdorff topology of sheaves. The cohomology of sheaves is discussed in the next chapter, and many examples are given illustrating the main points, along with relative cohomology. Most of the usual constructions from algebraic topology that carry through to sheaf cohomology, such as the Kunneth and universal coefficient theorems, the Mayer-Vietoris sequence, and Steenrod squares.
Sheaf cohomology is compared with other cohomology theories in the next chapter. Although short, the author's discussion is effective in that he clarifies the need for a paracompactifying family of supports, generalizing the paracompactness hypothesis needed in the usual cohomology theories.
Spectral sequences follow in chapter four, and, as is usual with discussions of these, the treatment is very abstract. There are however many examples, and the section on fiber bundles makes even clearer the constructions employed. The Thom class, the Thom isomorphism, the Euler class, and the Gysin sequence all make their appearances.
The most well-written chapter is the next one on Borel-Moore homology. The author does an excellent job of explaining why this homology theory was invented, namely to fix the some of the pathologies of ordinary homology theories. But he also explains effectively that this new homology theory does have some peculiarities of its own. It is a very lengthy chapter however, and very detailed, taking much effort to read and digest.
The book has solutions to most of the exercises in one of the appendices, and these serve to enhance even further the didactic quality of the book. It can serve well for students entering the field, and also to physicists who need an introduction to sheaf theory, as these ideas on now permeating high energy physics via superstring and M-theories.

Bredon's writing is terse, but the newer edition has more exposition than the first. Nonetheless, it's a very methodical development of the theory and its applications to group actions.

About the Author

Dr. Rajaram is a geotechnical and environmental engineer with 35 years of experience in sustainable environmental management. He obtained his B.E. from Osmania University, Hyderabad, Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, and a J.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, Kent College of Law, Chicago. He has completed several large projects related to hazardous waste management, mining engineering, wastewater treatment and recycling, and municipal solid waste management. He opened and managed the operations of Tetra Tech India Limited (TTIL) in Delhi from 1994 to 2002, and built TTIL into one of the respected environmental consulting firms in India. He has transferred several waste management technologies from the US to India in the areas of municipal solid waste, wastewater treatment, and hazardous waste management. He earlier published the book "Sustainable Mining Practices – A Global Perspective" (CRC Press, 2005). Dr. Rajaram is an associate at Techknow Engineering LLC Chicago, an architectural/engineering firm. He manages Construction Quality Assurance for the O’Hare Modernization Program projects, and the Delhi office of Techknow Engineering. Dr. Rajaram received the International Leadership Award in 2000 and the International Award of Merit in 2002 from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Chicago. Dr. Rajaram is active in community affairs, and serves on the Board of IIT Alumni Association and the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. He is a Director at the Center for Transformation of Waste Technology in Wheaton, Illinois. He cofounded India Development Coalition of America (www.idc-america.org) in 2004 to promote sustainable development in India’s villages. Through this organization, he is assisting with water and sanitation projects in rural India.

Mr. Faisal Zia Siddiqui is an environmental engineer having 15 years of experience in the field of solid waste management. He has worked on several landfill gas to energy projects in India. The scope of these projects included quantitative and qualitative assessment of waste and landfill gas emission modeling. Mr Siddiqui obtained his B.Sc in Chemical Engineering in 1996 from Aligarh Muslim University (A.M.U), Aligarh, India and M. Tech in Energy and Environment Management in 2001 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, India. He has numerous publications to his credit in various International and national conferences, seminars and journals. He is presently Assistant Professor in the University Polytechnic, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, A.M.U, India. He has previously worked with the World Bank, Confederation of Indian Industries, Tetra Tech India Limited and Sycom Project Consultants, India. He is presently pursuing his PhD in the area of landfill gas recovery.

Dr Emran Khan is a mechanical engineer with over 26 years of experience in teaching and research in the areas of clean energy systems, renewable energy systems, life cycle analysis of energy systems, energy auditing and energy recovery from solid waste. Dr Khan did his B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering in 1984 from A.M.U., M.Tech in Energy Studies in 1992 from IIT, Delhi and Ph.D in 1997 from Delhi University, India. He has several publications in various International and national conferences, seminars and journals. He is presently serving as Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi, India. Dr Khan is co-principal investigator for a research project on pilot demonstration of clean technology for landfill gas recovery sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. The project can be replicated to other landfill sites in India.

Nice collection for Stiglitz fans

The growing disparity in income and wealth between the richest Americans and “the rest of us” is very much in the news these days, but Nobel-Prize-winning economist Joseph Stigliz has been writing about it for a long time. This book brings together short pieces that appeared in publications such as Vanity Fair and the New York Times warning of the dangers of inequality as long ago as 2007.
The book is in nine sections. The first section he calls a Prelude because it discusses the 2007-2008 recession and the response to it that built the background for the increasing inequality seen today. The middle sections contain articles describing the disparity, personal reflections from Stiglitz’s life, dimensions of inequality such as student debt and health care, causes for inequality such as a tax system that favors the elite, and consequences of the inequality. The later sections elaborate on his argument that such inequality is not inevitable but is a political choice and explore the international picture in countries like Japan, Australia, Spain, China, Singapore, Scotland, and even Mauritius. The final section consists of articles in which Stiglitz outlines the kinds of actions America should take to combat inequality. In an Afterword, Vanity Fair editor Cullen Murphy interviews Stiglitz responding to conservative critics who claim that the rich create jobs. Each of the nine sections of the book is preceded by a lengthy introduction providing an overview of the topic of that section.
This anthology format has strengths and weaknesses. It allows for the presentation of a broad range of topics relating to inequality, and it is interesting to see how the topics develop over the course of the time period in which the articles were written. On the other hand, since the articles are generally short (Many were op-ed pieces.), readers new to a topic may feel they need for more data or a longer explanation. In addition, because they were written at different times for different publications, there was a great deal of repetition, e.g., Thomas Piketty’s book Capitalism in the Twenty-first Century is discussed at length in at least two of the articles as well as the introduction to Part I.
Readers who want in-depth presentation of Stiglitz’s thinking would probably be happier reading one of his other books, such as The Price of Inequality, that contain more data and a more comprehensive exposition of his ideas, but those who want a broad survey or who already admire him and want to hear more from this influential thinker will welcome this book.

This is a thoughtful, readable book that articulated thoughts I've had but not really expressed.
As a 3-percenter I've benefited from a graduate level public education as the first and only male in my family to graduate from collage.
I work at a national lab where we truly do invent the future, and watch the struggle for funding to do so.
Sure I'd like lower taxes, but I'd rather see education, infrastructure and R&D well funded.
This book is about choosing to increase demand by crafting rules to circulate money.
It has helped a smart but macro-economically bias and naive guy (me) better understand the real world around me and give me an idea as to what I may be able to do to help improve it. It's a good book for those who wish to learn about the economic and social influencing forces around them.

Stiglistz writes about complex economic issues with clarity that even a layman like me can comprehend. He is in direct opposition to the Chicago School of unfettered Free Market Capitalism and Privatization of Milton Friedman et al. And he proves just how wrong that group is. First he documents the history of the rapid growth of inequality in America over the last 30+ years; he explains just how devastating to the economy, the Middle Class, and to America this trend has been. And then he proposes several ways in which to correct this. Of course, the remedies are anathema to not only the present day GOP, they are dismissed by the Corporate Media as well as many Democrats who have accepted the mantra of the 'Debt Crises', Austerity, and No Taxes as Gospel Truth. It is infuriating to read this book for all the right reasons. Then listen to HIllary Clinton's wobbly stand on fixes to the problems facing America's economy and I want to scream. It's all bulls***...and all it does is continue the strengthening of the Plutocracy. Stiglitz is a Nobel-Prizewinning economist. But you won't see him advising Clinton. And that's a shame. Read this book. Get informed and get involved.

Good Book

The most upto date book on low-power design methods. Some information is redundant and can be eliminated from the book. The chapter on the physics of a transistor is excellent. THERE ARE A LOT OF TYPOS IN THE BOOK!
