It's available for very 'low' cost if you look

If you look around carefully on the Internet, you can find this text without charge. It's almost as if a scribe is waiting to give it to you.

But keep in mind this is a very detailed if not somewhat technical explanation of the interaction of mind and matter. The language is extremely veiled/symbolic and is mostly made accessible in this translations. You should have some experience with the sadhana of another yiddam diety first before trying to understand this material.

Excerpt:

vijahara (dwelt): Bhagavan pleasurably dwelt within the abodes of
the Buddha, the Enlightened One.

Where exactly did Bhagavan dwell?

sarvatathagatakayavakcittavajrayosidbhagesu (in the wombs of the Vajra Lady which are the Body, Speech and Mind of all the Buddhas): Bhagavan dwelt in the wombs of the Vajra Lady which are the Body, Speech and Mind of all the Buddhas. The Body, Speech and Mind are the Three Secret Centres (triguhyasamhara). These three centres constitute the form of Bhagavan Vajradhara which is known as the Source of Nature (dharmodaya). These Secret Centres are the wombs of the adamantine
goddesses, Locana and the others. The Three Secret Centres are wombs of the adamantine goddesses because their bodies are in essence faultless and possess infinite pure natures. The Body, Speech and Mind of all the Buddhas are synonymous with the wombs of these adamantine goddesses is the intent.

One of the most important books on Tantric Buddhism!

This is one of the most important texts published on Buddhist Tantra in english! It is a MUST for anyone who practices Vajrayana.
The authors have utilized the original Sanskrit source texts to give a seminal translation that is true to the spirit and word of the great Indian masters (Mahasiddhas) of enlightenment (Mahamudra), and it is a true treasure trove of wisdom to the initiate of Vajrayana Buddhism.
The text includes both the Sanskrit and English, side by side, so you can easily follow along, as well as the original ancient commentary on this important esoteric work.
It is only to be hoped that the authors (Farrow and Menon) publish more of their translations soon, including the forthcoming Candamaharoshana Tantra, and that more Tantric source texts will be translated and made available to the public.
The Tibetans do not rely on the source texts, and for the most part do not teach these texts, or recommend them to their students enough. It is to be hoped that any students of the Sakyapa who have taken the initiation of Hevajra will read this book, including anyone who is holding "anuttara" samaya for Chakrasamvara, Vajrayogini, and the other Yogini tantras.
It is essential to have these kind of source texts to understand the context of Tantra, and the samaya that is to be upheld by the Sadhaka (initiate).

Philip Houston is a nationally recognized authority on deception detection, critical interviewing and elicitation. His 25-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency included thousands of interviews and interrogations for the CIA and other federal agencies, both as an investigator and as a polygraph examiner. He is credited with developing a detection of deception methodology currently employed throughout the U.S. intelligence and federal law enforcement communities. Houston is also the author of "Spy the Lie".

Michael Floyd is Professor of Old Testament at Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest.

As editor in chief of "Computerworld", he won a variety of national journalism awards, including the Timothy White Award for Editorial Integrity and the Jesse H. This was a gift to my friend...

I had an opportunity to travel to Australia a few years ago, and loved so much the charming and unique "Aussisms" I heard.while there. When it was a good friend's turn to visit, I bought this book for her. She told me how much she loved it, and how many of the expressions she used while she was there - to the delight of her new Aussie friends.

Even if you're not going Down Under. It's a fun to learn the adorable and quirky expressions.

Hass contextualizes her study of this phenomenon within the history of American funerary traditions (in particular non-Anglo traditions in which material offerings are common), the history of war memorials, and the changing symbolic meaning of war. Her evocative analysis of the site itself illustrates and enriches her larger theses regarding the creation of public memory and the problem of remembering war and the resulting causalities—in this case not only 58,000 soldiers, but also conceptions of masculinity, patriotism, and working-class pride and idealism.

paper 0-520-21317-3 A dissertation-like examination of why people leave many and varied objects at the Veterans Memorial in Washington. Hass (American Culture/Univ. of Michigan) sees several reasons behind the outpouring of objects--what she calls a ``strong, multivocal, contradictory, unsolicited public response''--that have been left at the wall since it was dedicated on the Mall in Washington, D.C., in 1982. Some of the reasons are obvious: the emotional need to remember the dead; the patriotic and nationalist impulses to honor their service; the reaction by Vietnam veterans against the national cold shoulder given to them after they came home from America's most controversial overseas war. Others are less obvious: the fact that the memorial's simple design ``tacitly asked people to respond'' with ``their own interpretations,'' and the grave-decorating traditions of African- Americans, Mexican-Americans, Italian-Americans, and some American Indians. In her chapter on American military memorializing history, Hass places great import on the aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg, when for the first time ``common American soldiers were buried individually in graves marked with their names.'' Hass ties these varied themes together well. Her writing, for the most part, is clean and clear. Only occasionally does she slip into turgid academes. Hass seems to have done a thorough job of researching this multidisciplinary topic. There is, however, one glaring error. Hass repeats the myth that more Vietnam veterans have committed suicide than were killed in the war. In an otherwise profusely documented book, she offers only an ambiguous citation for this assertion. But the truth is that the suicide statement has no basis in fact. Hass proves much better at examining and explaining the reasons behind the myth that Vietnam kept American POWs after the war. A sometimes illuminating look at a unique national phenomenon. very emotional, could use some deeper probing

i read this book for a class i was taking in college. some of the lists and letters haas reproduced made me cry...most books that people read in college don't make people cry. haas' main (and one of her only) shortcomings was her apple pie, americana approach to what people left. many latino-americans and african-americans fought in vietnam and the material and social analysis is, at times, very white bread. very good overall. moving and interesting.

This book is tripe. I was forced to read it for a college class, and am disappointed by the lack of substance in the book. While it claims to be about tributes to fallen soldiers in Vietnam, it spends a substantial portion of the time discussing battle monuments of the Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, along with an extended discussion of the dedication of the Gettysburg battlegrounds. It looks too far into many of the objects left, such as the bike tube and nursing pads. Frankly, I'm ashamed to be associated with the same instution as this woman. Don't read it if you don't have to.

This adaptation of a popular Native American story pits Animals against Birds in a contest to settle an all-too-human question: Who's better? Here, it's the teeth versus the wings in stickball, a lacrosse-style game in which the players hold a stick in each hand. When the contestants take their sides, the anomalous Bat, who sports both teeth and wings, is rejected by both teams. Finally, Bear shows sympathy, saying, "You are not very big, but sometimes even the small ones can help." Bat is benched, however, until the Animals catch on to the Birds' obvious advantage: with ball in beak, the Birds fly high above the playing field. But as evening darkness descends, Bat flies into gear to win the game with his elusive, darting aerobatics. As the victor, Bat decrees that the Birds must leave for half the year. And, according to Muskogee legend, this resolution explains why bats are categorized as animals and why birds fly south for the winter. With clear, minimal language, Bruchac (see The Girl Who Married the Moon, reviewed below) wisely lets the myth carry itself. While the three-dimensional effect of Roth's (Fire Came to the Earth People) textured paper collages is striking and initially intriguing, the illustrations do not much embellish the sparely told story. But in its call for an athletic game to settle a dispute-and thereby avoid fighting-the book handily inverts the Greco-Roman tradition of sport as training for war. Ages 4-8.

Kindergarten-Grade 3-In this traditional Muskogee story, the birds and the animals quarrel over which group is better, those with wings or those with teeth. The argument threatens to turn into all-out war, so the creatures decide to settle it by playing a ball game instead. When the game (which resembles lacrosse) starts, no one wants little, weak Bat to play on their side. But in the end it is Bat-with both teeth and wings-who wins the match for the animals. As a result the birds are banished to the south each winter. This porquoi tale is told in clean, spare sentences with the emphasis on action and character. In a foreword, Bruchac briefly discusses ball games in traditional Native American life, including the role of sports in conflict management. He mentions two other written versions of the story, as well as Louis Littlecoon Oliver's, which he cites as his source. Unfortunately, the cut-and-torn paper illustrations are too crudely done to convey character or provide details that would have enriched the book. The helter-skelter compositions distract readers from what is otherwise an entertaining tale.

Ages 4-8. In this Muskogee Indian tale, the birds argue with the beasts about which are better--those with teeth or those with wings. When the quarrel escalates to the brink of war, both sides agree to settle their disagreement on the playing field. The first side to score a point will set the other's punishment. The bat, who has wings as well as teeth, is initially spurned by both sides, then permitted to join the beasts. He scores the goal and banishes the birds for half the year. "So it is that the Birds fly south each winter. . . . And every day at dusk Bat still comes flying to see if the Animals need him to play ball." Roth's dynamic collages combine cut papers of varied textures and hues to create a series of effective illustrations. Short and well told, this appealing pourquoi tale lends itself to reading aloud. This children's book has wonderful applications for the classroom. Children of all ages can easily create an art project in the same style of the book. The theme in the story can inspire writing projects and personal connections.

A Traditional Story in Picture Book Format

Joseph Bruchac has written a number of award-winning picture books, many of them biographies or traditional stories originating from various Native American tribes. This Muscogee (Creek) story tells of a conflict between the animals and birds. They cannot decide which group is best, so they decide to resolve the question in a traditional manner, through a sports competition. But when the sides line up to play the small bat, equipped with both wings and teeth, has to plead for the right to join either side. Bear takes pity on him and finally allows him to join the Animals. At nightfall, when the game begins to go badly for them, the Bat swoops in to snatch the ball and score a winning goal, showing that "sometimes even the small ones can help." Bat decides that the Birds' penalty for losing shall be their annual migration south, thus vacating the land for the Animals to use.

This story has much in its favor. In spare, clear text Bruchac conveys the practice of sport as a substitute for war, builds a fine drama within the context of the game, includes a little scientific observation and mixes in a little humor. Roth's torn-collage illustrations are fairly abstract, and may not appeal to all readers, but I believe she captures the right mood for this kind of mythological story. Because this kind of story is meant to be shared, it may make a better read-aloud than read-alone. It's well suited for a preschool or elementary audience.

One of the best, if not the best children's book I have ever read. Its an excellent text to help young people realize that no matter who they are, they have a place and a role to play in this world. I loved it.

A good book that lets parents help their kids begin to read

Bibs is a beginning reader book that features a cat (Bibs) and a dog (Lucky). The words include both phonetic and sight words. There is a pre-test and a post-test, but instructions for administering it are not in the student edition -- they are probably in the teacher's companion guide. My six-year-old kindergartener enjoys the simple story lines, and is eager to read more each day.

Excellent Series

This is the first title of nine in the Merrill Reading Skilltext series (starts of with Bibs, Mack, Joy, etc.). We have been using this series as adult literacy tutors and it has been working very well. ‘Bibs’ is targeted for reading level grade 1.2 students. You can do so much with the informational instruction (create word lists, Power Point or Keynote presentations, etc.) and each title includes a pre-test for the next level. I highly recommend this series for anyone learning to read--children or adults.

Granddaughter loves it

My granddaughter is in first grade and really likes using this book. It has a short phonics based story with pictures on first page. The second page has a short and easily understood phonics practice, plus a multiple-choice for the main idea of the story.
